ManyThings.org This is another site from Charles Kelly, and some of the links above are available from here. Aimed directly at students. Like the name says, hundreds of things to do. http://www.manythings.org/ 

Dave Sperling's ESL Cafe is a very old site, aimed at teachers, but with lots of activities for students. Try the quizzes

Randall Davis's ESL-Lab - one of the best site for practising your listening. http://www.esl-lab.com/

BBC. Like most television and broadcasting stations, the BBC has a website specially for learners of English. This is an excellent place to go to find out about current events -  the sort of things you have to write about in essays.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/ Check the polls and surveys to see what topics are being debated.Here's one:  "Should you pay for water?"

Bill Daly's Writing Argumentative Essays web gave me the idea for this site. With over half a million visitors, this excellent site is aimed at native English speakers who want to improve their essay writing. The layout is a little confusing, but it's worth working through.
