It is generally believed that education is of vital importance to the development of individuals and the well-being of societies. What should education consist of to fulfil both these functions?
It cannot be imagined what our world would be, if there is no education. The impact that education has on the development of people and social well-being is definitely enormous.
For individuals, education is likely to bring about more job opportunities and broaden their vision compared to illiteracies. Obviously, individuals with certain knowledge tend to gain themselves decent jobs and have the capability to adapt to future jobs quickly. Since knowledge is always, by no means absolutely, the base to performance well in the workplace. Furthermore, individuals, who seek education, have more chances to broaden their vision. There is no denying that education such as parenting and schooling helps learners to know more about life, future careers, and the society. With a wider horizon, people may have a more clear idea about what the goal is and how it can be achieved.
For the societies, it would be really beneficial for economy and social stability when possessing more educated civics. As we all know, a nation’s prosperity rely heavily on capable persons cultivated at school generally. Also, higher level of education is linked to a wealthier life of average public, which contributes to national stability.
To fufil educational functions in terms of personal development and social well-being, education at home and in school counts a lot. A common phenomenon of parenting in China is that parents pay most of their attention on children’s study, but disregard their emotional and psychological health. From my perspective, schooling should give the priority to impart theoretical and applied knowledge , while parenting should place more importance on students’ emotion and psychology.
To conclude, education have a crucial role to play in personal and social well-being, therefore, more attention should be paid on it (mainly parenting and schooling).

hi xiaoyu
you wrote funtions of education, not "content" of education. i feel you just leave the topic.
i think this topic should say:
1 education include fundament knowledge such as literacy, mathematics, physics, etc which help us gurasp basic skills to lead our lives in future.
2 edcucation should more focus on how to nurture a real human with moral, humanity, and responsibility in life.
....
in conclusion...
Hi xiaoyu,
I agree with ma-frank. you already deviated from the topic.
"What should education consist of to fulfil both these functions?"
You need to include what should we do on content of our education today e.g subject at school, syllabus, What is the basic subject should student learned for better personal (development of individual)....
- Soft skills??should be a compulsory course to student..
- Health education??Science? engineering? rationale behind this subject to individual and society development...
Just an opinion...:)
