Television news shows many scenes of disasters and violence. What effect can it have on individual and society?

Television is the most popular media to get the latest news which is regularly watched by people across the world. However, news channels show uncensored clippings related to calamities and terrorism which have horrific effect on the viewers. This essay will discuss in what way it can disturb the individual as well as the society.

To begin with, stress and hypertension is very common among people of almost all age groups. When such individuals watch the news related to plane crash and blood shed, the terrible images might push them to depression. Even if they surf the television to another news channel, they view the same news as almost all the channels show the drastic views repeatedly, adding fuel to the fire.

Second, today's younger generation love to watch violence as they find it thrilling. The teenagers who watch the act with interest sometimes get influenced and  pick up fights in public places. The irony is , the television channels even show them on their channels to increase their popularity. In addition, the society gets very much disturbed by the events and parents impose restrictions on their children and keep a strict vigil on them which result in quarrels and misunderstandings among family and friends.

To sum up,I strongly feel that although television channels should be appreciated for telecasting all the news items 24X7,certain  horrific news related to violence and disasters should be censored because of its negative effects on the viewers.
