Why is it important to study the past? What will be the effects if children are not taught history?
To study history or not has been a controversial topic. Some people think history has tine worth to the comtenporary; however, others insist that history builds today and people ought to know it.
Studying history has many benefits. It enables people to understand themselves by looking back to the past, the last generation. They know who they are, where they are from and why they are here. It is very important to the seniors, too. To give something meaningful to the next generation can continue a culture. Furthermore, history includes wisdom and valuable experience which helps people today. Thus, we will not make the same mistakes repeatedly. The ability of analysis is also improved by learning history, so that we are able to analyse the right and wrong.
Drawbacks are caused if the youth are not educated history anymore. The unpleasant outcomes will be not knowing oneself, confusing by the society, lack of knowledge and so on. These are very serious issues as it may contain psychological and mental problems. Another effects will be the ability of solving problems. On the other hand, if the questions they have are similar to the one that happened in the past, solutions from the previous experience are already existed to help them. For example, if a child was taught that driving car has many risks by his or her previous generations, he or she will then be very careful when driving and the number of accidents can be reduced.
In conclusion, in my point of view, studying history has its own advantages and it is very important that we learn from history. Therefore, to stop teaching history is a risky decision.

Hello Tammy!
Thanks for this essay. It's generally well organized and well written.
In your introduction, I'd change the opening sentence: "...has been a controversial topic." Not every IELTS essay topic is controversial or earth-shaking or contentious or even very interesting. Instead of using this phrase, which IELTS examiners will see 40 times out of 100 essays, why not write something like:
Are history classes just a boring list of dates, kings and wars? Or does history tell us about our life today and help us to know who we are?
In Paragraph 3, you have one interesting sentence:
The unpleasant outcomes will be not knowing oneself, confusing by the society, lack of knowledge and so on
But instead of explaining each of these, you run immediately on to another disadvantage! This is a missed opportunity. You have two or three good ideas in this sentence, each of which could be developed into one or two further sentences. Instead, you give an example of driving, which is not really such a great example: do many people learn about driving skills in past centuries? How many people were killed each year by not wearing seat belts on horses, I wonder....
So instead of writing a list like you did in the 'unpleasant outcomes' sentence, develop your ideas fully. I know you can!
See what it says about this in the IELTS Task 2 descriptors under "Task Reponse."
