(0 votes) More and more adults and children choose to work or study at home because computers are much cheaper nowadays. Is it a positive or negative trend and what’s your opinion?
Computers have become increasingly prevailing than before due to declined price. People can use computers to learn or work at home instead of in their offices or classrooms. This change shows both positive and negative implications on users together. This essay will discuss how much rationalities exist behind this phenomenon.
These machines can never solve all problems that people may encounter in their work or studying. This is because computers are just advanced machines to serve human’s demand in work as well as daily life. Firstly, computers, as machines activated by designed software, can only deal with some general problems under pre-set programs. But, people can meet various difficulties in the course of studying or work. There might not be comprehensive database to match those unforeseen problems due nature of machine. This disability can absolutely influence effectiveness of studying or work. Secondly, interactivity is indispensable part of studying and work. For example, tutorials or presentations and face-to-face discussions with peers are efficient ways to grasp knowledge or operate business. Exactly opposite, computers never reach this lively interpersonal effectiveness. Achievements may be limited.
However, studying or working at home is a symbol of social development. It can save a lot of money and time both on individuals and society. You can flexibly arrange your schedule to work or study, which help people learn or work efficiently. Plus, electronic applications will reduce recourse consumption. You may reduce emission because you needn’t drive your car to office or you will use electronic documents instead of paper. Anyway, these positive influences can’t help us solve all problems we may meet; they are just beneficial supplemental means.
In conclusion, computers indeed have brought positive implications on our work and studying. But merely relying on computers can negatively influence your progress. The appropriate way should be keeping contacts with outside world and treat computers as best assistants in your life.

Hi Ma-Frank
I am not sure about the question in your essay. Where did you find it? Is it an IELTS question?

What does "it" refer to - cheaper computers? And do children really 'choose' anywhere? As I say, I am not very happy with the question, which makes writing the answer (or reading your answer) a little difficult.
I prefer this topic:
Computers and modems have made it possible for office workers to do much of their work from home instead of working in offices every day. Working from home should be encouraged as it is good for workers and employers. Do you agree or disagree?
You can find an essay by Rshdwork on the second topic here.
I will try to comment on your essay in the next day or so. Feeling a bit swamped at the moment by the number of new essays on the site. It would great if more people could add a few comments to each other's essays!
